Quick LOTR studies today.
I got a rare stroke of genius and found out that searching up screenshots on google images would be much more efficient than going through the actual movie. That took me a while to figure out.
NOT REALLY 100 VALUE CUBES / / WEEK FOUR
AP EXAMS ARE OVER! (but I only had one, so it’s not a big deal…)
I wasn’t able to hit 100 because the smell of the markers made my head hurt. I didn’t even study much for my exams, so I can’t use that as an excuse anymore.
At first using the markers was pretty hard, but then it kind of got easier…double coating makes me feel like I’m wasting ink. Re-learned the importance of sharp edges and relative value.
Just one more day..and then school will be truly irrelevant…except for quest.
Have to focus on AP Psych for the next two days. No more time for art; how will I cope with this..
I was watching one of Anthony Jones’s livestreams, and I decided to try out his method for starting a painting.
This is extremely close/similar to one of his paintings (pretty much another version of his), because I was practicing and trying to see his processes. Even the placement of the light/colors are pretty much the same, except mine is “cool” and his is “warm” haha…
yeah.
quareness asked: how often do you sketch? and how did you think of a concentration for portfolio? tyty :)
I sketch pretty much everyday, unless I have schoolwork/exams to study for. And for a concentration, I tried to choose something that I wouldn’t get bored of. It doesn’t matter if it’s broad (like water or animals), or if it’s specific (like white noise and sound waves traveling through time), as long as you can do 12 pieces and not get tired of it :D
Good luck! and you’re welcome
100 MAMMALS / / WEEK THREE
These took quite a bit of time, I hardly did any art this week besides these animals…
I attempted to use some images off of google to do a amateur/awkward kind of perspective drawing. Alternated perspective animals with normal drawings.
Halfway through I started getting bored of the mammal limit, which is kind of unreasonable since there are so many possible mammals to draw from. Also, I’m sorry for the horrible quality of these pictures; I took them with my phone because my scanner is kind of ehh right now.
Sargent study, 1.5 hr. I love his colors! Learned some subtle differences between light/shadow colors. This is the first time I’ve actually used the soft round brush; I’ve always had this unreasonable aversion to those.
His paintings are so beautiful, this woman seems like she’s supposed to be a dancer, but she looks like she’s bashing on someone’s fashion sense while doing morning exercises.
Movie study
Leon: The Professional (1994)
11 year old Natalie Portman. Didn’t really do her justice, but learned about lighting and color.
So I wanted to start building on my color palette but I didn’t know where to start, so I found a way to get my favorite colors fast from photos, using the method CoyoteMange has done to get her palettes!
Also another neat tip to have is to have a folder full of color inspirations, a folder full of photos you handpick because of colors you think are cool!
